This week students were in the library doing their Renaissance stations. They had one station per day, and all 4 sheets were due on or before Friday June 6th.

On Tuesday we began one of our last units on the Renaissance. We read through the introduction on page 209. Afterwards students broke up the information on pages 209-217. Afterwards student had to write the letter portion of #2 on page 217.
On Wednesday we looked at the information on pages 217-221 and discussed family values. Afterwards we began watching Episode #1 of The Medcis
On Thursday we finished Episode #1 and then students were broken up in to 10 groups and were given sections on pages 217-233 that they will be presenting at the start of class on Friday.
On Friday we did the presentations and then began watching Episode #2 of The Medicis.
On Wednesday we looked at the information on pages 217-221 and discussed family values. Afterwards we began watching Episode #1 of The Medcis
On Thursday we finished Episode #1 and then students were broken up in to 10 groups and were given sections on pages 217-233 that they will be presenting at the start of class on Friday.

On Monday students had some class time to finish up their Civilization Wheels, these are due on Tuesday May 20th. Afterwards we went over their last project for Ancient India, the travel brochure. Students were given the outline and details.

On Monday we began our unit on Ancient India. Students had created their Civilization wheels on Friday, and today we read the section on pages 340-342, and then filled in our pie section on Geographical Features. We also watched a short videoclip on Monsoons to help.

On Tuesday we looked at the information on pages 183-185 about Heian Japan, and then students had to write a letter response to #3 on page 185. This was due at the end of class. Reminder that students have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday April 24th.

On Monday we began Chapter 6 in our textbook and looked at the information on pages 175-179. Students then did a paragraph answer the the question because the picture on page 179.
On Tuesday students had to read through the information on pages 180-182 and answer #3 on page 182 with a partner. Afterwards, they had their vocab chart to fill in. Their vocab quiz is Thursday April 24th.
On Wednesday we reviewed the vocab and religion from Tuesday, and then did our Kami gods assignments. This assignment is due on Tuesday April 22nd.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we watched "A Knight's Tale." Students were given the handout for the multi paragraph response they have to do for their assignments and had some time in the lab.
On Thursday and Friday students had two full lab days to complete their Knight's Tale Compare and Contrast.
Reminder that the end of Term 3 is coming up and that all assignments are due on or before Friday April 11th.

On Monday we covered pages 141-144 in textbook on Knights' role and education. We then went to the lab to work on these two entries.
On Tuesday we looked at the section on warfare and technology on pages 145-148. We also watched a video on the longbow. Afterwards students had time to work on the entry for war.
On Wednesday we broke up the section on Trade (pages 149-155) and shared out. Afterwards we worked on the entry for trade.
On Thursday we talked about the Church on pages 158-160, and looked at Pilgrimages, the changing architecture of churches, and the teachings of John Wycliffe and declining authority of the Catholic Church. Students could use any of these for their entry. We also looked at the Black Plague on pages 165-167, and discussed how it devastated the nation and changed the economy.
On Friday we finished the chapter by looking at the Peasants Revolt on pages 168-169. Students then had time to work on their entries.

On Monday we finished watching Paul Bunyan, and related it to the information on pages 60-62. Afterwards we broke down the information on pages 54-56, and then prepped for our two days to write our Monk/Nun diary entries. Reminder that students have a quiz on Thursday for their Chapter 2 vocabulary.
On Tuesday students were given the handouts for the entries(attached), and then had the whole class to work on them.
On Wednesday, students had a full period to work on their entries, reminder that they are due on Friday, March 14.
On Thursday students wrote their vocabulary quiz, and then read pages 62-65 on The Crusades. Wed discussed what they were about and made a web diagram on the board. Students were then given their Crusades Comic Strip assignment and had the rest of class to work on them. They will have some time at the beginning of class tomorrow as well.
On Friday students had the first 20 or so minutes to read or work on their assignments, afterwards we went to an assembly.

On Monday we began Chapter 2, by reading pages 44-47, and sharing out as a class. Students then had to write a response to #4 (b), which is due on Tuesday, March 4th. Students also have the option of writing mini paragraphs on any aspect of their Chapter 1 presentation with which they wish to bring up their mark. These are due on or before Wednesday, March 12th. They can also hand in their missing bibliographies.
On Tuesday we went over the information on pages 47-54 and shared out. Afterwards students were given their Manor Projects, these are due on Friday, March 7th.

On Monday students were given their Chapter 1 research project, which they will be presenting on Friday, February 28th. Students got in to their groups and picked their topics. Today we strictly did research from books.

On Monday students began a unit on Civilizations. We discussed what elements made up a civilization and what they needed to survive. Afterwards students broke up in to groups and were given their Creating a Civilization assignment. Students will have the rest of the week to work on these, and then they present on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. I have attached the course outline and portfolio.
